Metropolitan Urology provides wide range of
care for BPH problems (benign prostatic hyperplasia). Many men
suffer from a variety of lower urinary tract symptoms. These
urinary frequency, urgency, nocturia and urge incontinence.
Do you wake up a number of times at night to urinate?
Have you noticed a "slow stream"?
When you go somewhere do you first look for a restroom?
If you answer yes to any of these questions you may have a
condition known as BPH or Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy.
While these symptoms can be annoying, the good news is these
symptoms can be treated. The Physicians of Metropolitan Urology
can assist you in relieving these symptoms. Treatment ranges
from medical/pharmaceutical therapy to surgical intervention.
It is uncertain what exactly is the cause of BPH. Simply put it
is a condition as a result of a "growing problem" to quote
recent commercials. Tissue surrounding the prostate gland grows
as a man grows older.
Symptoms can be equated to a clamp on a garden hose. If
left untreated BPH can cause problems such as: Urinary Retention
(inability to pass urine), UTI (bladder infections) Incontinence
(leakage of urine) Blood in urine, Damage to Kidneys of Bladder.
The first step is to make an appointment with any of our
physicians for a consultation. Your doctor will take a medical
history as well as a physical examination. You and your
physician will then decide in the best treatment based on your
symptoms. Metropolitan Urology surgical scheduling department
will contact you within 1 week of your initial consultation.
