Vasectomy (Sterilization)
A Vasectomy is a simple, safe and minor surgical procedure that makes a man sterile (unable to father a child). A vasectomy is a personal decision on the part of the patient's and significant others.

The Physicians of Metropolitan Urology Group perform these procedures in our offices with a localized anesthetic. The procedure usually lasts 30 minutes start to finish, and can be scheduled once an initial consultation has been scheduled to see one of our physicians.

A vasectomy involves ligating or cutting the vas deferens which are tubes that carry sperm to the penis. Once these tubes have been cut, sperm have no way of traveling, thus resulting in infertility.

The testes still continue to produce sperm, but since sperm have no where to go, they simply die and are absorbed by your body.

Metropolitan Urology has been performing vasectomies procedures in their office for the last 30 years. We perform a
very simple and comfortable approach for couples looking for permanent sterilization. Vasectomy procedure usually takes ten to fifteen minutes in the office using local anesthesia. The total recovery period is approximately two to three days.
